High-Efficiency ATEX Centrifugal Pump Design

The Alfa Laval LKHex is a precision-engineered unit designed to maximize process productivity through high efficiency and gentle product treatment. All media-contacting components, including the pump casing, impeller, and backplate, are constructed from W. 1.4404 (AISI 316L) to ensure chemical resistance and durability. The pump features a semi-open impeller with a special vane design, which ensures the product is handled with extreme care to maintain its media integrity throughout the transfer process.

Reliable Operation in Explosive Environments

Safety is the primary focus of the LKHex series. The equipment is built to meet the requirements of temperature classes T3 and T4, making it suitable for a wide variety of volatile industrial applications. To provide additional protection and maintain a clean exterior, a stainless steel shroud covers the explosion-proof motor. The entire unit is supported by four adjustable stainless steel legs, allowing for easy installation and leveling within diverse plant layouts. A compression coupling securely attaches the stub shaft to the motor shaft, ensuring the precision alignment necessary for long-term mechanical reliability.

Front-Loading Seal Technology and Maintenance

To maximize uptime, the LKHex utilizes a robust mechanical design focused on ease of service. It features a modular front-loading shaft seal where the spring and washers are mounted on the atmospheric side. This design allows maintenance personnel to replace the shaft seal in just a few minutes, significantly reducing costs and downtime. The balanced seal design also provides an extra layer of protection by minimizing the risk of seal opening during unforeseen pressure shocks.
